Challenge

With investment from a private equity firm, 4505 had the opportunity to revisit their packaging to better position it for growth. The pork rinds segment was growing based on demographic changes and prevalence of high protein/low carb diets, and the brand wanted to reinforce its premium positioning.

Action Taken

DuPuis partnered with 4505 to communicate great taste in a manner befitting its premium position, build a cohesive but differentiated design system to work across formats and establish a flexible system of nutritional claims. We developed several ways-in to communicate taste and reinforce their differentiating feature of “humanely raised without antibiotics.” From there, we finalized the design and extended it to all existing SKUs. Our Flashlight Studio captured hero product photography with flavor cues that pumped up taste appeal on the packaging and conveyed premiumness, and the bold brand shield and claims treatment provides continuity across product lines.

Results

The premium, refreshed packaging began rolling out on shelf in July 2024.
